Arriving into Macao
Macao is connected by land to Mainland China (port Gongbei and Hengqin) where travellers literally walk into the city. Otherwise, the majority of international travellers come to Macao by sea or air. Detailed information about these options are listed below.
By air
Macau International Airport (IATA code: MFM) is the gateway to many major cities in the region, connected by a variety of network and low-cost airlines. To visit the airport's website, please click here.
Alternatively, travellers may arrive into Hong Kong International Airport (IATA code: HKG) which is connected by direct flights to many major cities worldwide. Once in Hong Kong, passengers can opt for direct ferry services directly into Macao without going through Hong Kong customs. To visit the airport's website, please click here.
Macao is also within reasonable reach of Shenzhen and Guangzhou international airports but getting into Macao from these airports is not very straightforward. Do drop us a line if you intend to fly via these airports and we'll be able to advise you accordingly.

By sea
Regular ferry services connect Macao to nearby Chinese cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou, as well as several points of embarkation in Hong Kong.
From China
There are services between Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen, the latter also connects to Shenzhen Airport (IATA: SZX, click here to access the airport's website). As ferry services between Chinese port cities and Macao are not as straightforward, please either consult your travel agent or write to us directly for specific recommendations/directions.
From downtown Hong Kong (HK)
Delegates who are travelling from downtown Hong Kong either because they are spending sometime in Hong Kong prior to the conference or those who were in transit such as when airport ferry services are unavailable, frequent services run between Hong Kong Island (24 hours) and Kowloon (daytime only). Ferry services arrive into Macao or Taipa (not recommended due to distance to conference venue and conference hotel). Advance ticket purchase is not necessary and travellers may choose either of these ferry service providers - Turbojet and Cotai Water Jet.
From Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA)
Delegates who prefer to take the direct ferry services into Macao should NOT go through passport control and follow signs 'Ferry to Macao' - detailed procedures provided here. From there, look for ferry service counters to Macao and the procedures are relatively straightforward. The same service providers depart from HKIA into Macao or Taipa (the latter of which is not recommended due to distance to conference venue) - TurboJet and Cotai Water Jet.
Getting around in HK
Hong Kong is served by one of the best public transport system in the world and most find the mass transit railway (MTR) the easiest to get by most places around HK. The Airport Express line takes travellers from HKIA to downtown HK - Hong Kong station, which is within walking distance to the ferry terminal to Macao or Kowloon station which is a short taxi ride to Kowloon ferry terminal. The nearest MTR stations to ferry terminals in Hong Kong is Sheung Wan and in Kowloon is Tsim Sha Tsui. Ferry services from HK to Macao take approximately 55 minutes.
From China
